Educator | VolunTeaching Pioneer | Indic Pedagogy Practitioner | Leadership Mentor
Ms. Hiral Mehta is a visionary educator, pedagogic innovator, and grassroots nation-builder with over two decades of rich experience in academic leadership, curriculum design, and societal transformation through education.
Earlier, as Head of the Skill Department at IITE Gandhinagar, she led the conceptualization and implementation of the DIPTI curriculum, integrating life skills, innovation, inquiry-based learning, and structured exposure from self-development to societal engagement, along with Project-Based Learning and continuous evaluation systems.
She currently serves as Joint Coordinator at the Institute of Indic Studies, Gujarat University, where she contributes to building academic and administrative frameworks, establishing value-based governance processes, and leading Faculty Development Programs, curriculum design, and academic workshops. Her work advances the integration of Indian epistemology into contemporary education, particularly in Bharatiya Shikshan Paddhati, the 64 Kalas, Ayurvedic practices and Yoga.
As Founder of the All India Rural Empowerment Program (AIREP) and Trustee of Avsath Vidya Sansthan, she has anchored the VolunTeaching movement for more than seventeen years, creating structured avenues for citizens to participate in nation development through education, vocation, health, and community engagement. Through this evolving work process, over 800 VolunTeachers have been prepared, enabling sustained learning engagement for more than 2000 rural children through collaborative efforts.
Her work advances a Bharatiya approach to leadership that unites inner discipline with social responsibility. Through VolunTeaching efforts, she has encouraged a culture of active participation over passive concern. Her joint publication, “RashtraYog – The Pedagogy to Develop New Age Leadership,” along with collaborations with government and semi-government institutions, reflects sustained efforts to align education, skills, and community capacity with national priorities.
She is deeply committed to channelizing youth towards preserving civilizational and cultural values while equipping them with competencies required for the 21st century. Across her engagements, she consistently works to nurture a sense of responsibility for nation building, irrespective of where individuals are placed in society.
Hiral’s strength lies in blending clarity of thought with a deeply spiritual outlook, making her initiatives not just informative, but also transformative. Her approach fosters inner awakening, collective harmony, and purposeful action—values she lives by and inspires in others.
Ms. Mehta combines her academic foundation in Bioinformatics and Microbiology with an Indic perspective and a strong implementation orientation, bringing analytical rigor, systemic thinking, and grounded execution to her work.
