Where We Teach
VolunTeaching happens where committed individuals and communities come together to learn, teach and grow.
Our work currently takes shape through two complementary models:
1. Community-based VolunTeaching
– across our village cluster near Ahmedabad
2. Campus-led VolunTeaching Movements
– developed in partnership with universities.

Where We Teach Near Ahmedabad
AIREP currently works across a cluster of nine villages along the Ahmedabad–Dholka corridor. Rather than approaching each village as an isolated location, we work towards building an interconnected learning ecosystem where education, local leadership, knowledge and community participation can strengthen together.

Awakening Rashtra Bhava in Youth through VolunTeaching
At AIREP, we believe that this potential develops into a deeper sense of Rashtra Bhava when students move beyond classrooms, understand the realities of rural communities and contribute through the process of VolunTeaching.
With this vision, AIREP has developed University VolunTeaching Movements in collaboration with universities.
These movements create a platform where students contribute to community development while developing leadership, empathy, responsibility and a deeper understanding of society.
Ganpat VolunTeaching Movement (GVM)
Since 2012
- Launched in collaboration with Ganpat University, the Ganpat VolunTeaching Movement expanded across nine villages near Kherva.
- Under the leadership of Ashutosh Jani, and later Amit Makwana, the movement inspired hundreds of Ganpat VolunTeachers (GVTs) to engage with rural communities through VolunTeaching.
- For many students, this experience became more than an extracurricular activity.
- It became an opportunity to understand communities first-hand, take responsibility and carry the spirit of social contribution into their professional lives.

Nirma VolunTeaching Movement (NVM)
Since 2014
- Established in collaboration with Nirma University, the Nirma VolunTeaching Movement has been actively engaged in Miroli and Giramtha, within AIREP’s Ahmedabad village cluster.
- Through regular VolunTeaching sessions, Nirma VolunTeachers (NVTs) contribute to children’s learning while developing their own leadership, empathy and social awareness.
- The continuity of these interactions enables students to move beyond one-time volunteering and build genuine relationships with learners and communities.

Kutchh VolunTeaching Movement (KVM)
Since 2025
- In partnership with Kutch University, the Kutchh VolunTeaching Movement extends VolunTeaching to the border region of Kutchh.
- Currently active across four villages, KVM is developing a committed group of VolunTeachers who contribute to education and community development in the region.
- The initiative demonstrates how university-led VolunTeaching can create new centres of sustained community engagement beyond AIREP’s original geography.

From Campus to Community
University VolunTeaching Movements are not simply outreach programmes.
They create an environment where students can experience responsibility rather than only learn about it.
Through VolunTeaching, students:
- Engage directly with rural communities
- Develop empathy through experience
- Learn to communicate across social and cultural contexts
- Build leadership through responsibility
- Understand the importance of consistency
- Discover the satisfaction of contributing without commercial intent
In the process, education moves beyond the classroom.

Dr. Mahesh Mehta Center for Holistic Development (MMCHD)
Our Learning and Coordination Centre
The center is established and supported by
Avsath Vidya Sansthan
It serves as the operational and learning centre of the All India Rural Empowerment Program (AIREP).
Located in Village Miroli, near the centre of AIREP's nine-village Ahmedabad cluster, MMCHD enables close and continued engagement with the surrounding communities.

MMCHD serves as a space where we:
- Plan and coordinate VolunTeaching initiatives
- Orient and support VolunTeachers
- Work with Local VolunTeachers (LVTs)
- Conduct training and capacity-building activities
- Develop and test learning approaches
- Facilitate internships, research and field-based learning
- Bring educators, volunteers and community members together
